A bit about me

Hi, I’m Lisa Kirkbride, a graphic designer, illustrator and surface pattern designer living in sunny Whitley Bay in the North East of England. I’m fortunate enough to enjoy stunning sea views and, whilst bracing, I love where I live, so much so, that I’m even partial to the odd sunrise dip when I’m feeling brave enough!

I founded Lisa Kirkbride Designs in 2002, following 7 years working within North East design and marketing agencies and I specialise in producing eye-catching and impactful brand identities, brochures, advertising, newsletters, exhibition/event graphics and online/social media graphics.

My illustration and surface pattern style is heavily influenced by my background in graphic design and this is reflected in my designs which are bold, vibrant and fun. I'm inspired by Scandinavian design and 1950s vintage fabrics and wall coverings. Ultimately, I love to make art that makes people smile. I have work licensed in the US in the stationery, fabric and home goods markets and I have been commissioned to create pieces for brands across the region including packaging for bespoke candles, illustrated prints, gifts and confectionery.

For several years I have exhibited in New York (Surtex, Printsouce, Blueprint) and San Francisco (Blueprint) - a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience, meeting both new clients and industry experts. As a result I have seen my designs on greeting cards, gift bags, bolt fabric, quilting fabric, calendars, stamps and pattern papers for the craft market and childrenswear.

At home I’m a book lover, doodler, collector of letterpress type and a stationery addict with an unhealthy obsession for art materials and books.
